The Slow Down Market is a welcome breath of fresh air in Dupont Circle, catering to socially conscious shoppers, a space for discovery and celebrating ethically made fashion and designs and local artists, musicians and makers.
About Us
We are a functional multi-retail boutique and multi-disciplinary events space embracing slow and sustainable fashion, artisanal craftswo/manship, and showcasing independent designers. Launched in October 2022 in the north end of Dupont Circle, we are more than just a shopping destination. From art shows to wine tastings, the space hosts a variety of creative collaborations and community events featuring local artists, makers and musicians.
Our retails space features brands and designers that espouse slow fashion principles. Visitors can shop designer apparel, vintage clothing, women’s footwear, homeware, luxury accessories including jewelry and handmade women’s handbags, and gifts, from local sustainable and ethical brands as well as small, international designers curated just for the market.
Our Story
The Slow Down Market DC was launched in Dupont Circle by three independent local brands: furniture and homeware retailer Candor Collab, handmade Greek footwear brand Laiik, and vintage clothing and jewelry brand Tribute Collective—all of which are sustainably-sourced brands. Together, they wanted to open a space that acts as an antidote to fast fashion, where customers can shop knowing that products have been vetted for transparent supply chains and durability.

The Slow Down Market is also a creative events space now relocated in Union Market. Together with local brands and businesses we host a variety of interactive, dynamic events from wine tastings with Grand Cata to a short film screening with District Cinema, a Sofar DC concert as well as the Interlaced art exhibition by local artists, Mohammed Obaid & Yazan Aboushi, among others.
